Umrah Experience at Fairmont Gold Makkah

Umrah Experience at Fairmont Gold Makkah

If you’re planning your next Umrah and looking for a good hotel close to Masjid al Haram, Fairmont Makkah is definitely worth considering. During my recent Umrah trip (September 2025) — which coincided with Saudi National Day — I had the opportunity to stay at this hotel inside the Makkah Clock Royal Tower.

Staying at Fairmont Gold Makkah

We chose a Fairmont Gold room, and it was definitely worth the upgrade. Guests staying in Fairmont Gold have access to the exclusive 28th-floor Fairmont Gold Lounge, where breakfast, afternoon tea, and snacks are included daily.

Breakfast is also available on the 29th floor at Al Dira Restaurant, which offers a 360-degree panoramic view of Makkah. You can even catch a glimpse of the Kaaba from 2 tables, but those spots are in high demand. We arrived early on one morning and still couldn’t secure a table with the view.

The lounge also features a private prayer room overlooking the Kaaba. While this was very convenient, we made an effort to perform most of our prayers at Masjid al Haram, only using the prayer room on our last day after check-out.

One of my favorite features was the private elevator that connects directly to the Makkah Clock Tower Mall, making it easy to access shops and restaurants without leaving the building.

A Memorable Umrah & Rain in Makkah

This trip was particularly special because it started raining in Makkah on September 23rd — a truly memorable experience. Watching the rain fall over the Haram while staying in such a peaceful setting made the trip unforgettable.
